Hippo Tours was founded in the year 2000 in Toronto, Ontario. We operated in Toronto until the end our 2011 season before making the move across the country to beautiful British Columbia. Our current location is in Victoria, BC:
470 Belleville Street, Victoria BC (During our tour season, look for our yellow sales kiosk next to the Black Ball ferry terminal).
Each of our Hippo buses is custom made, being transformed from brand new school buses into amphibious vehicles. The idea of the Hippo came from amphibious war vehicles that have now been transformed into tour buses around the world.
During our tour season, our tours operate daily with hourly departures between 11:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., which runs from May 27 until September 30. Some tours may not be available due to low low tide levels. Additional tour times in July and August may be available upon demand.
Hippo Tours are fully guided by our friendly and knowledgeable staff. Tours are approximately 90 minutes in length, with 60 minutes on land and 30 minutes on the water. Tours are fully narrated by our guides and are usually offered in English only. We occasionally have guides who are multi-lingual and may be able to assist with alternative languages. Please contact us to find out if we are able to accommodate your group.
All of our drivers hold a valid Class 2 bus drivers license, and our captains are certified under Transport Canada with a Masters Limited ticket under 60 gross tons.
